Re: [gatortalk] The thing that bothered me the most...

There was an article posted on Facebook that indicated the Gator players did have a curfew and that there was very little partying going on, that most of the guys were choosing to hang out with each other in their own hotel.  It was a really positive article that made me think they had their heads screwed on straight in preparation for the game.  In the end, though, I have to agree with you that most of them seemed like they left their heads somewhere else.  :-/

I was about to take exception with your statement about the SEC games being disappointing, but I see you sent your email before the Texas A&M game last year.  It was far from disappointing.  Frankly, I can't believe the team that beat those guys is the same one that got their asses handed to them by the Cardinals.  :-/

Steve and Randy, the thing that bothered me the most was that it seemed that most of our seniors and NFL caliber juniors seemed to have mailed the game in.  I am not sure if it was a sense of entitlement, too much partying, or just kind of moved on.  The gators just did not seem to have the passion to win the game.  There also did not seem to be the senior leadership to keep the guys focused.

I would love to know what time their curfew was—if they had one.

Jerry

P.S.  I was not even interested enough to watch any more college football.  I hope I can get up for the Alabama game.  The SEC has been disappointing this year.

That was exactly the way I saw it, too. From the opening kickoff, the UL players were on fire and excited. We were very "ho, hum" the entire game. I know there probably was some talk before the game about "focus", "business as usual", and Louisville just being another "notch in our belt", but c'mon! Yes, we've been here before, but it's been a LONG time getting back, so let's show we appreciate for the stage we're standing on. The Sugar Bowl deserved more than the one-sided performance the nation watched on Wed nite.

...it wasn't that we shot ourselves in the foot and had a poor night (and to be fair, some of the UL players made plays that they couldn't possibly make on a consistent basis) - that happens to all teams on occasion. It was that, when we looked like we had (an albeit slim) chance to get back into the game, our offense displayed no sense of urgency at all. The way we took our time getting to the line, and running the play clock deep into single digits, you'd think we were the team with the lead looking to milk the clock.
