Re: [gatortalk] Conference Realignment

Funny you should mention re-alignment. The vice chancellor for athletics at Vanderbilt, David Williams, spoke to our Rotary club here a couple of weeks ago. He said the same thing about 4 super conferences. ACC would be out. PAC 10, Big 10, Big 12, and SEC in.
He wouldn't give any prediction as to who would come in, but did say FSU, Clemson and Miami would certainly not be invited. Same with Louisville.
Television market would make a big difference in one's resume. That puzzles me about NC
He also mentioned that while there is a $50 million fee to exit the ACC, there is no cost to get out of the SEC. You can leave any time you like.
Sorry if I've already mentioned all of this.
David was asked about whether Vandy could keep James Franklin. He laughed and said some of the same people now asking that were wondering what kind of idiot he was to hire Franklin in the first place. Then he re-iterated the company line that Vanderbilt is now committed to having quality in it's athletics department.
