Re: [gatortalk] Gators vs Haggies

As usual, I agree with the Randoo.  I expect Drissel to be a very good quarterback...maybe not quite a Weurffel; but who knows, he has a lot of upside potential.  Especially in learning to throw the ball out of bounds instead of taking large losses after a backwards scramble.

Other thoughts:

1)  This team won't quit.  They'e like Energizer bunnies.

2)  This team listens to their coaches.  What else could explian the two Gator teams that we saw in yesterday's game and the significant reduction in penalties between the first and second games?

3)  This team is a team.  They have a lot of interchangeable parts and all seem to perform fairly well together.  That's hard to coach.  Good job, Muschamp.

4)  This team has a great spirit: they seem to really like each other; have some humility, but also don't doubt each other; don't do a lot of trash talking; have a great work ethic; and, do their homework.

5)  This team is easy to underestimate.  I hope they continue to improve as much as they have in the past two games.

6)  This team shows up.  I haven't noticed any individual player or team component taking plays or series off.

7)  This team must improve their tackling.  Too much high shoving going on rather than grabbing, taking out legs and bringing down.

Where's my coffee?  It's great to be a Florida Gator on this 47 degree fall morning!

The game yesterday felt like I had stepped into a time warp and was transported back to the Dean/Wuerffel era. Back then, we often struggled in the first half only to come out in the second half and put the game away. Driscoll reminds me very much of Danny at that age and level of experience. I think if we give him a chance to get more game experience, he'll develop into something special.

I always want to give people time to prove themselves, but what this game hits me in the face with is this. We keep hearing... it's a new system, so they need a few years to learn it... the o-line needs better conditioning (and now they have that) and to learn a pro-style system... the QB is young and inexperienced, so you can't expect too much of him yet (even though he was the #1 rated QB out of HS)... and so on.

That all sounds reasonable in the abstract, but here we are playing a team with a first-year coach, in a completely new system, with a redshirt freshman making his first start, and they look like veterans doing it. So, I guess I'm sitting here wondering, if other teams can change systems immediately, put together complex offensive schemes with no experience, and make it work, why can't we? (Don't get me going on the defense!)

I am usually a give the guy a chance type of person, but this effort is horrible, I am thinking if we don't turn it around Muschamp need to be seriously be re-evaluted….we have  redshirt freshman QB who is 16-20 in his first start and looks like Peyton Manning, our offense is constantly 3rd and 10 or more….

Driscoll is not the answer... just doesn't know when to throw it or throw it away. st least two sacks because he didn't throne it away... trying to do too much.

The fact that they had no game film is proving a benefit to the Aggies. D is completely on their heels.
