I think this is a preemptive strike to facilitate SEC participation in the 4 game championship.
There's no other reason for the SEC to involve itself with the Big Texas conference. A&M wouldn't have left if they had any future there.
I'll be so surprised(tongue-in-cheek) if they pick up the Sugar Bowl for the location.

This might be interesting and profitable. The runner-up or second runner-up SEC team playing the Big 12 champions every year! Will this bowl pay out as much as a BCS bowl? Will this bowl pay more than the highest paying Non-BCS? If not, should we participate?
